Most small business owners in Northern Ontario just want a website that works. They don't care about frameworks, hosting stacks, or build processes. They care about whether their phone rings.
So I thought it might be interesting to pull back the curtain and show you exactly what happens when we build a client site at SuperStack. Not the buzzwords — the actual process, start to finish.
Step 1: Research & Discovery
Before I write a single line of code, I spend time understanding the business. What do they do? Who are their customers? What's their competition doing? Where are they located?
For a contractor in Sudbury, that might mean checking Google Maps to see what other roofers or electricians are ranking for. For a restaurant in North Bay, it's looking at their menu, their location, and what makes them different from the place down the street.
This research shapes everything — the layout, the messaging, the calls to action, and the SEO foundation.
Real example: When we built for Paul Stopciati's municipal campaign, the research phase told us that voters cared most about local issues — roads, taxes, community safety. So the site led with that, not generic political fluff.
Step 2: Domain & Hosting Setup
If the client doesn't have a domain yet, we register one. If they do, we help transfer it to our registrar (NameHero) so everything's in one place.
Then we spin up hosting on our reseller account. Each client gets their own cPanel account with their own login, their own email, and their own space. No shared folders, no WordPress multi-site chaos.
The entire site lives in their public_html folder on a secure, Canadian-hosted server.
Step 3: Building the Site
We use a base template that follows our design system — forest green, warm cream, and rust accents. It's clean, fast, and professional. But every site is customized for that specific client.
The build process looks like this:
- Layout: Homepage hero, services, about, contact — structured to answer the questions customers actually ask
- Content: Written specifically for the client's business and location. No generic filler
- SEO foundation: Meta tags, proper heading hierarchy, descriptive URLs, JSON-LD schema markup
- AEO optimization: Direct-answer formatting so AI tools like ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews can cite the site
- Mobile responsiveness: Tested on phones, tablets, and desktops
All of this happens as static HTML — no WordPress, no CMS, no plugins to update or hack. Just clean, fast pages.
Step 4: Review & Deploy
Before anything goes live, the site gets reviewed for quality. We check every link, every page, every piece of text. Does the CTA make sense? Is the phone number correct? Does the contact form work?
Once approved, we deploy via secure SFTP to the live server. The domain is pointed, SSL is enabled (free AutoSSL from cPanel), and the site is live.
Step 5: Ongoing
A website isn't a one-and-done thing. We include basic maintenance — keeping things patched, checking uptime, monitoring SSL certs. For clients who want more, we add blog posts, SEO reports, and AEO optimization.
But the core promise is simple: your site works, it looks good, and it helps your business grow.
The Campaign Web Package ($247 flat): Domain + hosting + custom-designed site + email + basic SEO/AEO. No monthly fees, no hidden costs, no contracts. Built for Northern Ontario small businesses and municipal candidates.
Why This Matters
A lot of web design shops make the process sound mysterious. "Proprietary platform." "Custom workflow." "Enterprise-grade solution." It's all just words.
The truth is, building a good small business website isn't complicated. It just takes care — understanding who you're building for, writing content that actually helps, and deploying it properly.
That's what we do at SuperStack. No fluff, no mystery. Just a solid site that works.
